they see all the other scummy trends and think "oooh, we can squeeze out so much money with this," then act like the players are wrong for calling them gross and sleazy and instead go play the good games that actually care about their players, cus at the end of the day, the capitalist's downfall tends to be tone deafness due to class differences, cus those big rich CEOs look at making money, they think of it like some game, where you divide and conquer, "oh, if i let them in for free i can get them to spend more on cosmetics than they wouldve if they had spent just the flat entry fee!" But then because theyre so disconnected they don't see what actually gets them money, and that IS that entrance fee, because fun fact, if people have real interest in a game, they're going to give you that money, and if they like it, they'll get other people on it. the new norm has become "what incredibly basic modes 343 could bang all out in a day or two do we have to wait six months for now?" and "what classic armor pieces am i going to have to drop 20 bucks on just to recreate my old Reach spartan?" or "oh thats a cool color scheme i got, i look so cool, my guy is gonna stand out- aaand everyone else is using it too."įucking companies, man. Now we get like 5 little modes, garbage customization that's almost entirely locked behind hard paywalls, and no forge or firefight or even fully fleshed out and functional customs. customs and forge let you make crazy new modes, allowing for near Infinite possibilities and unlimited replayability. firefight had so many cool options to play with, you could make the waves have whatever enemies and skulls you wanted, including even custom skulls. Remember when this was the norm? Remember when you got on Reach to go play some arena or firefight to grind out more credits to get that sweet new helmet you just unlocked access to? The blue and silver visors? Not just that grind though, you had several options for gamemodes, from classic slayer and ctf, to grifball and invasion.
